One real cowboy and one real man are connected to this book. In one real man you meet Reid Barclay. Kenny knows how to mix romance, mistery, the wild west, and some humor all together to form a great book.

I fell in love with Reid and Elli Jo along with Elli's father and the wise old buttler. I will leave my review at that, the others have described the book very well. I will recommend you read and say it was very good. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. This was a real wild west story. It had horse thief, a money hungry Englishman that was crooked as the day was long.

The young man that had no family of his own and a young women looking to keep her father safe. I bought this book at Christmas but just got around to reading it now. Don't let the title dissuade you though, you could enjoy this book anytime of the year. The characters were likable and the story entertaining. My only problem was the repetition I felt like I read the same details numerous times!

I also didn't care for the long character introspection's. I found that kind of thinking boring and it just made their characters seem whiny to me.

Overall, it was a decent little book with an intriguing storyline, however I'm not sure that Janette Kenny will be on my must read list. I loved this story but made the mistake of reading "In a Cowboys Arms" first. I didn't realize these 2 books were related. I like to read a series starting with the first one..

A Cowboy Christmas

I still feel I am either missing a book or maybe it isn't finished as of yet. A Cowboys Christmas is a wonderful story of wishes and dreams. I am looking forward to more from this author. Re-read December A simple holiday romance filled with cowboys, a murder mystery and giving redemption to yourself and others. Reid and Ellie are cute, passionate, and perfect for one another. Each time I re-read this book it gives me happiness and ready for the holiday season.

Jul 26, Sandy M rated it liked it Shelves: This book started out really good for me. I immediately liked the writing. Kenny does a terrific job of getting all things western down on paper. But at about the three-quarter mark, I started getting a little antsy, I never seemed to really get totally invested in the hero and heroine.

But what engaged man acts the way Reid does, stealing kisses and embraces. I liked the majority of this book. The characters start out to be quite interesting, secrets and all, but after a while they lost their interest for me. From the blurb on the back cover, I was looking forward to a nice holiday story and that just never came to be. I love that chiseled face on the hero, just how I picture a cowboy to look. Needless to say, I took quite a number of peeks while reading.

She works hard and is bound and determined to make it work. Though the job is only until the beginning of the year, she puts her whole heart into it. Reid is in trouble. Can a rancher ever catch a break?

Both Ellie and Reid have had hard childhoods. Reid on the other hand has never known love until he was a teenager. The moment he found his foster father, Kirby Morris, he finally knew what it felt like to have a family and he is determined to never lose that feeling.

Lately some of my books have been exhausting to read, drawing out emotions that were draining and just tiring me out completely.

What I loved about this book is I was not frustrated, annoyed, or angry. I felt a loving glow from start to finish.

A Cowboy Christmas (Lost Sons Trilogy): Janette Kenny: Books

This warm feeling had nothing to do with the holiday, but with the love that Ellie and Reid provoked in me. This simply is a feel-good book. On that note, if you want a solid holiday themed book you will not find it here. Christmas was the holiday, but not the focus of the story. I am going to devour all the books in The Lost Sons Trilogy. I am definitely in the mood for hot sizzling cowboys and the women that drive them crazy. Bring on the steam!

Jun 15, Romancing the Book rated it really liked it Shelves: First, I want to start my review by saying how excited I am that this is the first in a new series. Janette has created an interesting place in the Wild West that I look forward to revisiting. Ellie Jo and Reid are characters that take hold of your heart and don't let go. I cared what was going to happen to them as they worked through their personal issues and fought the attraction between them.

I laughed at the Ellie Jo's cooking attempts and cried during the climax of the book. Janette also cr First, I want to start my review by saying how excited I am that this is the first in a new series. Janette also created the perfect villain -- the man you just have to hate. Add in several well-developed secondary characters, a couple plot twists, and a holiday theme and we have a special book.

I highly recommend adding A Cowboy Christmas to your holiday library.

Jul 27, Cecelia added it. There are so many things wrong with this novel on one hand and so many things that are right. The plot line is straight up screwy and it tries to do too much. Some of its complexities are just a little absurd. Then again the chemistry between the main charachters is wonderful and some of the perifery charachters are colorful too. I would advise not purchase but library. I couldn't really get into it and kept falling asleep.
